Working Effectively With American Indians - Field Session (000090)

Overview

This course is for those field personnel to provide an awareness and basic understanding of the culture, history, and protocol of American Indians and Indian Country. Delivery is provided in a classroom setting, usually at a remote site, in or near Indian Country. The session, taught predominantly by Indian instructors, is designed to sensitize and inform. Participants experience facets of Indian culture, i.e. a pow-wow and craft making, as well as interact with tribal representatives.

This course has been referred to in the past as “The Harmony Workshop”

Objectives

To provide spiritual, cultural, and intellectual awareness of the American Indian in order for NRCS to effectively work, interact, and provide technical assistance to American Indians in the use and care of our natural resources.
