Prescribed Burning –Southeast Pine Forest (000221)OverviewThis course has toe integrated parts of classroom instruction and field experience. It is designed to instruct participants on the theory and application of prescribed burning techniques. The course establishes an understanding of Natural Resources Conservation policy on prescribed burning. It instructs participants in the basic considerations and methods needed to design, plan and implement effective prescribed burns with cooperators. The course describes animal use, wildlife, moisture, and factors that are considered in developing prescribed burn plans. The course also examines fire suppression techniques, prescribed burning equipment, and prescribed burning expert systems. Note: The prescribed burn plan is designed for Southeast Pine Forest type (The maximum enrollment for this class is fifteen participants)

Field office personnel needing training in prescribed burning may attend when space is available.
